Missouri's Guide to Housing Assistance ProgramsWHAT IF I CURRENTLY RESIDE IN A NURSING HOME, RESIDENTIAL CARE FACILITY OR ICF/MR*?Some people who are capable and interested in living in the community are currently residing in a nursing home or an ICF/MR*, such as a habilitation center. The United States Supreme Court ruled that people with disabilities and seniors have a right to receive services in the most integrated setting and move out of institutions and into the appropriate community setting chosen by the person. If you are in a nursing home or ICF/MR* and you are interested in receiving housing assistance and home and community-based services*, help is available. You can call the nursing home ombudsman, your local Center for Independent Living*, (listed in the back of this booklet) the DHSS Hotline at 800/235-5503, or DMH at 800/364-9687.
